Former Blackburn Rovers striker, Chris Sutton, has claimed that Tottenham star Harry Kane would be stupid to reject advances from Manchester City or Liverpool if they came in for him.
He insisted that the team needed to be moving in the right direction for him to remain there and Sutton feels tat the striker’s sentiments are understandable.
So far in his career, Kane has made just two finals with Tottenham, the League Cup in 2014/15 and the Champions League in 2018/19. Both times, he finished as a runner-up.
On an individual note, Kane has 181 Spurs goals in 278 games, as well as 32 in 45 for England. He has a World Cup golden boot and two Premier League golden boots, as well as a host of scoring records to his name (Wikipedia).
However, he still does not have a trophy to show for his efforts and talent.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Chris Sutton said: “I can understand the predicament he is in.
“But if he wants to win the Premier League, then he should move on and go to a club who have a better chance of winning it than Spurs do.”
“We all understand he wants to win something. So if he wants to win something, I wouldn’t begrudge him a move,” said former Chelsea and Celtic striker Sutton.
“Spurs are a brilliant club, but at this moment in time, they are way behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
“If one of those clubs came in for him, if you were Harry Kane you would be stupid not to go.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If we show no signs of improvement next season and don’t close the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool, I believe few Spurs fans would begrudge Kane a move away from North London. Let’s hope we can get our act together and convince him of our ambition as there is no doubt that he will be irreplaceable for us.
