Former player labels Harry Kane a diver after England vs Germany fixture

Chris Sutton has labelled Harry Kane a diver after the Tottenham man won a late penalty against Germany on Tuesday.

Kane has had to contend with accusations of diving for several years, with the striker even once being asked to re-watch a challenge on him after he was awarded a penalty in the North London Derby in 2019.

During his time at Spurs, Jose Mourinho insisted that Kane was being unfairly maligned by the media and that other players in the Premier League were much smarter than the Tottenham striker at winning penalties (Starting at 10:23).

Kane converted from the spot on Tuesday to help England salvage a 1-1 draw against Germany after the Three Lions were awarded a late penalty for a clumsy challenge by Nico Schlotterbeck on the Spurs man.

Sutton took to social media to insist that the referees were not falling for divers and when Jermaine Jenas asked Sutton to name the players he was talking about, the former Celtic man named Kane.

All forwards go down fairly easily in the box these days if they think there is an infringement and Kane is no different. He certainly gets a lot of undue criticism and that is always going to be the case. Once there is a perception of a player as a diver, that never seems to go away.
