Michael Brown believes Tottenham is the perfect club for Japhet Tanganga continue his career at amidst reports that the North London putfit in advanced talks with the defender over a new contract.
The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut for Jose Mourinho’s side in the 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool in January.
He has since gone on to make a further five appearances in the top flight and has displayed maturity beyond his years with his displays.
Tanganga is said to be currently earning a salary in the region of £1,500 a week at the Champions League finalists with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2021 (Standard).
Football Insider revealed last month that Spurs had offered a new long-term contract to Tanganga which includes a significant pay rise to reward his impressive rise to the first team.
It was claimed that talks between both parties are bearing fruit and there was confidence that a deal is close to being reached.
Reacting to the news, Brown told Football Insider: “Young players coming through, you always try to get that fine line of continuing with your progress at a football club over money.

“The rewards might be bigger somewhere else but where is the best place, where can you develop to play football and I think Spurs is the perfect fit for him.
“You can see there’s no one really nailed on in the defensive network so what I think is good there is he’s got a great chance of playing games at the moment and that would be the advice I would give him.
“Where can you play week in, week out or get as many games as you can as a young player? At this moment, you would say Spurs would be that kind of fit for him.”

While Tanganga certainly has a lot to learn, he seems to have all the attributes needed to become a top player. His emergence has no doubt saved us a considerable amount of funds in the transfer market. Let’s hope he carries on from where he left off and continues to develop as a defender.
