Former player says Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are fighting for one CL spot

Tottenham Hotspur were looking like they were very much part of the title race a couple of weeks ago after having the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the table to just two points with a win against Burnley.

However, successive defeats to Burnley and Chelsea and a draw in the North London Derby has put them out of contention for the title, and with some work to do to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Tottenham currently find themselves in third place in the table, three points clear of Manchester United and four clear of Arsenal, with the two clubs set to play each other this weekend.

Spurs have a great opportunity to put some daylight between them and their rivals in the race for Champions League qualification when they travel to Southampton this afternoon.

However, since Manchester United are in terrific form at the moment, and given that Spurs are yet to travel to the Etihad and Anfield, it is possible that the Lilywhites could find themselves in a scrap for fourth spot.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair has said that he expects the Red Devils to finish in the top four, leaving the other Champions League spot to be contested between the three London clubs.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, Sinclair said, “I think Man United [for a top four spot]. Then it’s one between the other three [of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham].

“I am going with the momentum that Man United’s carrying at the moment and I think they will finish in the top four. Then it will be one from the other three.”
