Former player suggests Antonio Conte’s days at Spurs could be ‘numbered’ over tactics

Former defender Ramon Vega has suggested that Antonio Conte’s time at Tottenham Hotspur could come to an end if he continues to employ ‘clueless tactics’.

The 51-year-old took to Twitter after watching Tottenham fall to a 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United earlier this evening.

The defeat was Tottenham’s second in the space of a week after they were also on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford at the hands of Manchester United on Wednesday.

With Richarlison (calf) and Dejan Kulusevkski (hamstring) still sidelined and Lucas Moura only fit enough to take his place on the bench as he recovers from a tendon issue, Conte stuck with a 3-5-2 formation for a second successive match.

Key errors from Hugo Lloris again proved to be costly once again with the Frenchman at fault for the opener and played a key role in Newcastle’s second with his poor kick punished by Miguel Almiron.

Vega is not happy with the tactics that Conte is currently operating under and expressed his disappointment.

It is somewhat far-fetched to suggested that Conte’s days could be numbered, however, the football on show from Tottenham at the moment is far from enjoyable.

Many key players are hiding in important moments when Spurs are chasing a game which was evident to see in the latter stages of the Newcastle defeat when it was left to Emerson Royal to try to play the ball forward.
