Demarai Gray has had somewhat of a frustrating time since joining Leicester City in January 2016.
Despite making a total of 111 Premier League appearances for Leicester after making his top-flight debut, Gray has managed only eight league goals and six assists.
The 22-year-old has showed flashes of his potential and this, along with his blistering pace, earned him being linked with a possible move to Spurs in both 2017 and 2018 (Standard).
Former Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has now commented on the previous transfer speculation involving Gray and Tottenham.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Shakespeare said that Leicester were “fighting off bids from Tottenham and Bournemouth” back in 2017.
He went on to say: “We knew that we needed to keep him because he has very much got the potential to have a really good career”.

However, now, in 2019, it seems that potential has not yet been realised.
Last season Gray once again failed to be overly impressive for the former Premier League champions. He only managed scored four goals in the league, leaving his minutes per goal ratio at disappointing 0.12 per game.
Gray will now hope to show his potential in the European U-21 Championships with England. An impressive tournament may stir up some fresh transfer interest this summer.

Gray does look like a player who has the potential to really excel in the Premier League. He has the sort of pace that can really cause probelms for defenders. However, his current output for Leicester would put me off pursuing him at the moment.
I personally think that Gray needs to have a good tournament with England U-21’s this followed by a solid season with Leicester before he is again linked with a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
