Former Premier League chairman believes £80m-rated player is better at Spurs than Arsenal

Former Premier League chairman Simon Jordan believes that Wilfried Zaha would be better off joining Tottenham Hotspur instead of Arsenal.

The Daily Mail has previously claimed Zaha wants to join Arsenal this summer which would have seen him move to the club he supported as a boy.

However, a move for Zaha now seems unlikely following the £72million club record arrival of Nicolas Pepe (BBC).

Spurs are said to have a longstanding interest in the Crystal Palace winger (The Guardian) who has previously expressed his desire to leave Selhurst Park in order to play Champions League football and challenge for trophies (Daily Mail).

Jordan admits that Zaha, who is valued at around £80million (talkSPORT) would have been a better fit if he joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side but went as far as claiming that Spurs are not in for him ahead of the transfer window closing on Thursday evening.

Jordan said about Zaha on talkSPORT: “I think he would like to have played for Arsenal, I think playing for Tottenham is a slightly better fit, but they are not in the market for him.”

Opinion

While Palace are said to be demanding a hefty transfer fee for Zaha, Spurs are still desperate for some natural width in their side.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is not the answer and Lamela’s injury record makes him unreliable.
