Former Premier League manager claims Spurs trio would be ‘flying’ at Liverpool

Former Cardiff City and Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has named three Tottenham Hotspur players who would be a hit at Liverpool.

Tottenham squared off against Liverpool in the final of the Champions League in 2019 with Jurgen Klopp’s side winning the trophy for the sixth time.

While Liverpool have gone from strength to strength since that very evening in Madrid, having also won the Premier League and UEFA, Super Cup FIFA Club World Cup, Tottenham have failed to qualify for the prestigious tournament and their woes have been magnified by the fact they have also seen the likes of Jose Mourino and Nuno Espirito Santo having been shown the exit following Mauricio Pochettino’s dismissal.

In recent weeks, Tottenham’s defence has been a subject of concern having lost against both Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanders in the last seven days while they were also comfortably swept aside by Chelsea on three different occasions.

Warnock, who most recently managed Middlesbrough has claimed that he felt he had a better back line at the Championship side than what Antonio Conte has at his disposal in north London.

The 73-year-old however did reserve praise for Tottenham’s current front three, believing that Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura would all hit the ground running if they played for the Anfield outfit.

“I don’t think you can keep changing and blaming the manager,” Warnock told talkSPORT.

“The forwards that they have got, they would play in any country and do well.

“If you have the front three playing at Liverpool. They would be absolutely flying. But they have never sorted their defence out.

“I thought my lads at Middlesbrough were better than them at the back. They have never changed.”

It is hard not to disagree with Warnock, Liverpool have by far a stronger defence and midfield than Tottenham and Kane, Son and Moura would reap the benefits of the creativity of the ikes of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The stark reality is the two sides are poles apart in terms of quality at this time, Conte must be given the tools and backing for a significant rebuild this summer.
