Former Real Madrid doctor claims ex-Spurs man is better athlete than Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Real Madrid doctor, Jesus Olmo, has insisted that ex-Spur Gareth Bale is a better athlete than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The doctor claimed that Bale was ‘possibly the best I’ve ever seen’ due to his capability to play a wide range of sports.

Bale departed Spurs for Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 for a then-world-record transfer fee of £85M (Transfermarkt). Since then, Bale has racked up an impressive 105 goals in 249 games for the Spanish giants (Wikipedia).

Olmo worked with the pair during his time at Madrid and has insisted Bale is better than any other player he has seen.

‘Possibly the best athlete I’ve seen is Gareth Bale,’ he told Ideal.

‘He’s a natural athlete capable of excelling at practically any sport. He has unusual genetics and athletic ability, and I would say technical ability as well.

‘He’s the one who impressed me most in all aspects, although there is then performance, which comes about from different circumstances.’

During his time in the Spanish capital, Bale, alongside Ronaldo, helped Los Blancos to four Champions League trophies, including an unprecedented three in a row.

However, Bale’s stay in Spain has been criticised by many due to his passion for golf, with some Real Madrid fans booing him for seemingly putting his hobby above his job (Sun).

Not only this, but the Welshman has also been hindered by injuries throughout his time at Madrid which has often left him missing large chunks of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This certainly leaves room for debate. Bale is an incredible athlete and has shown that throughout his time at both Spurs and Madrid. The volley against Stoke City, the overhead kick against Liverpool, and the goal against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final all come to mind. However, I would argue that few top the level that Ronaldo has reached and maintained.
