Former Roma man compares rumoured Spurs target to Yaya Toure

Former Roma striker, Antonio Cassano has lavished praise on rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie and likened the AC Milan star to Yaya Toure.

Kessie, who is now into his fourth season at Milan, has taken his game to a new level this campaign and has been one of the main driving forces behind the Rossoneri’s impressive showing this term.

The Ivorian has been a long-term target for Spurs, having reportedly been on the Lilywhites’ radar back in the summer of 2019 (The Express).

It was reported in December that Spurs, as well as their North London rivals Arsenal, were eyeing a move for the midfielder.

It was suggested at the time that an offer of around €40-€50m (£36m- £45m) might be enough to tempt Milan to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Cassano has now raved about Kessie’s all-round game and has stated that he is one of Milan’s most important players.

The former Italian international told CalcioMercato: “I want Kessie in my team. He scores, he assists, he has personality, he has quality, he doesn’t lose the ball, he’s intelligent.

“I’m watching him carefully. Against Roma (in the weekend’s 2-1 victory) he was devastating. He reminds me of Yaya Toure on his best day.

“He is a different player but, in terms of impact, he is holding Milan’s midfield together alone.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I have always been a huge admirer of Kessie and I believe he would be a brilliant addition to Spurs. However, for the fee he would command, it would not make much sense for us to buy him particularly given the form that Skipp has been in this season. We would be better off investing that money in other areas of the pitch.
