Former Spur describes Chelsea display as a shambles

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Darren Anderton has criticised Chelsea’s performance in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Maurizio Sarri’s side were second best throughout the match at the Emirates and lacked any grit or determination to try and grind out a result.

Chelsea have only won two of their last five matches and are now just three points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal and sixth-placed Manchester United.

Defeat meant that they missed the opportunity to overtake Tottenham in third place and victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Fulham this afternoon would open up a four-point gap between the London rivals.

Chelsea scored 27 times in their opening 11 league matches this season under Sarri but have only scored 13 times in 13 games since.

Anderton described the Chelsea display as a “shambles” and hopes that they put in a similar shift when Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday evening.

Anderton took to Twitter to share his opinion.
