Former Spur expects Man City new boy to outscore Harry Kane next season

Tottenham Hospur legend Erik Thorstvedt has backed his fellow countryman Erling Haaland to outscore Harry Kane next season.

Manchester City announced this week that they have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Haaland.

The 21-year-old comes with a massive reputation, with many expecting to reach the heights of some of the biggest names that the game has ever seen.

The news of Haaland’s move to the Etihad would come as a relief to Spurs fans as it seemingly rules out the prospect of City reigniting their interest in Kane anytime soon.

The England captain has continued evolving as a player over the past few years, and as well as being a world-class goalscorer, has become Tottenham’s main creator-in-chief, with Son Heung-min being the main beneficiary of the 28-year-old’s transition.

Thorstvedt cited Kane’s evolution into a nine and a half as the reason why the Norwegian will outscore the 28-year-old in the Premier League next season.

The former Tottenham goalkeeper told Sky Sports: “Harry Kane does other things. Haaland is more of an out-and-out goalscorer, so I’ll go with Haaland to get more goals.”

Not only has Kane evolved into more of a nine and a half but the reality is that City creates more chances than any other side in Europe. So, it will not be a surprise to see Haaland finishing as the top scorer next season or in the years to come. That certainly does not make the Norwegian a better player than Kane.
