Former Spur responds to question on whether Nuno has been sacked

Former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton has claimed on Twitter that the club have sacked Nuno Espirito Santo following their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

The speculation over Nuno’s future gone into overdrive over the past day, with multiple sources (including Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano) claiming that Tottenham are evaluating his position after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat.

Antonio Conte has emerged as the club’s main target, with the Italian thought to be the preferred choice of Fabio Paratici.

However, there has been no official announcement forthcoming from the Lilywhites regarding Nuno’s future so far.

If Anderton’s latest revelation is to be believed, the club have indeed parted ways with the former Wolves boss just a few months after appointing him as the head coach.

When a Spurs fan on social media asked if Nuno has been sacked, Anderton simply responded with a ‘yes’.

When another fan followed that up with the question of who Tottenham should bring in, Anderton admitted that wants to see Mauricio Pochettino return to N17.

This is potentially the biggest indication yet that Spurs have indeed parted ways with Nuno as it is quite likely that Anderton has been filled in by one or two insiders.

I do feel sorry for Nuno as he has not really been given a chance to succeed, particularly given the distraction of the Kane saga in the summer and the fact that the fan base never wanted him in the first place.
