Former Spur reveals that Harry Redknapp almost helped to save his life

Jamie O’Hara has revealed that Harry Redknapp helped him turn his life around following his high profile divorce.

O’Hara came through the academy ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and was given the chance to make his first-team debut for Juande Ramos before going on to make 56 senior appearances for the club in all competitions (transfermarkt).

The midfielder has previously admitted that he regrets leaving North London in the summer of 2011 to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and wishes he remained at the club despite a lack of game time (talkSPORT).

O’Hara’s life off the field was in the spotlight due to his relationship with glamour model Danielle Lloyd with the pair splitting in 2014 following two years of marriage and three children.

The former Tottenham player began drinking heavily following his divorce and his fall from grace as a professional footballer but credits Redknapp for helping him to get back on his feet.

O’Hara told the Run Freemental health podcast: “I didn’t have a job and was just sitting around. Harry was massive for me.

“I’d say he almost saved my life.

“It was brilliant to get me back on my feet.”
