Former Spurs coach could hamper club’s hopes of landing potential manager

John McDermott took the decision to leave his role of Head of Academy Coaching and Player Development at Tottenham last year to take up the position of Assistant Technical Director at the Football Association.

He had spent 15 years within the academy set up of the North London outfit and oversaw the development of the likes of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Harry Winks.

McDermott did not have to wait long for a promotion when it was confirmed in October that he was to succeed Les Reed as the FA’s new technical director (Evening Standard).

Football Insider have claimed that McDermott could look to scupper any hopes which Tottenham have of luring Scott Parker to the club by earmarking him as a candidate for the England Under-21 role.

Parker saw his Fulham side relegated from the Premier League last night following their 2-0 defeat to Fulham and previously worked under McDermott at Spurs while he was in charge of the Under-18 side in 2017.
