According to Relevo, former Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue has traded the football pitch for the basketball court, having joined a Spanish third-division basketball side.

Etienne Capoue was a part of the Bale Seven
Capoue joined Spurs in a £9.4m deal from Toulouse in the summer of 2013 and the Frenchman was quite highly rated when he arrived in North London, having been considered one of the best young talents in Ligue 1 at the time.
However, the midfielder never quite managed to get a consistent run of starts at Tottenham and was eventually sold to Watford for £6m in 2015. The midfielder played 167 times for the Hornets during his six seasons at the club before joining Villarreal in 2021.
His time with the Yellow Submarine came to an end this summer following three and a half years and it has now emerged that the 36-year-old has turned to basketball.

Etienne Capoue joins pro basketball team
Relevo state that Capoue could now embark on a new career with Spanish minnows CB Jovens L’Eliana, who play in the third division of the Spanish basketball pyramid.
The outlet claimed that the former Spurs man has already played a friendly with the side this weekend, with Jovens L’Eliana winning 78-70 against CB Mourvedre.
However, the publication adds that Capoue is yet to be officially registered with the side and cannot play competitive matches until that process is complete.

Rather than getting one big final paycheque in the United States or the Middle East, it sounds like Capoue has decided to follow his passion and try his hand at basketball.
Perhaps we might see Kane doing the same with the NFL in five or six years’ time, with the striker already announcing his dream of being a kicker.
