Former Spurs starlet is top-performing Englishman in Europe this season

Former Tottenham academy star Noni Madueke is having a brilliant season for PSV Eindhoven and is statistically the top-performing Englishman in Europe this season, with 16 goal contributions so far which works out to one every 64 minutes.

Madueke’s potential was clear during his time with Tottenham’s Under-16s and Under-18s, with the midfielder coming through in the same group as Troy Parrott and Harvey White.

However, he rejected Tottenham’s contract offer and decided to join PSV in 2018 to get a quicker pathway into the first-team (Daily Mail).

The England Under-18 international’s decision has certainly proven to be the right one as he has established himself as a key part of Roger Schmidt’s side this season.

The former Spurs youngster has scored six goals and assisted six more for the Eredivisie giants this season which means that only Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Ajax’s Lassina Traore are ahead of him when it comes to top-performing stars under 20 years of age. (Daily Mail).

One has to remember the standard of the Eredivisie is not even comparable to the Championship as the bottom half teams are extremely poor. However, Madueke’s talent is quite obvious and he will only get better with more experience under his belt. If he keeps performing as he is this season, I would not be surprised to see a Premier League club take a punt on him in the summer.
