Former Tottenham coach opens up on ‘great player’ club let leave North London

Former Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach, Joe Jordan, has backed Christian Eriksen to turn his fortunes around at Inter Milan.

After months of speculation linking Eriksen with a move away from Tottenham, the midfielder finally completed a move to Inter in January for £17 million with just six months left on his contract (BBC Sport).

However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the 27-year-old after his move to the Serie A giants as he has been forced to make do with a bit-part role under Antonio Conte.

After Inter’s 2-0 loss to Juventus early last month,  Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) questioned the midfielder’s positioning and labelling him a ‘mysterious object’ given how little he’s shown since joining the Nerazzurri.

Former Inter Milan defender, Collovati, described him as a ‘difficult player’ and insisted that he has to improve if he was going to be a success in Italy (TuttoMercatoWeb).

However, Jordan is confident that the former Spurs star will come eventually come good at his new club. Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web about Eriksen, he said: “He has always done great at Tottenham and lately he has decided to leave to try other experiences.

“He is a great player, technically very strong and with an exceptional brain.

“The position? In my opinion, he does well behind the centre forward.”
