Former Tottenham player predicts Kane and co will ‘destroy’ Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Jamie O’Hara has backed his former side Tottenham Hotspur to thrash their London rivals Chelsea in this weekend’s derby fixture.

Tottenham will be on the road on the second matchday of this Premier League season to face off against the Blues in a highly anticipated London clash. Both teams would be looking to build on their victories in opening games against Southampton and Everton respectively.

Spurs, in particular, have started their official campaign strongly with a thumping 4-1 win against the Saints. They had to rally their way back to earn all three points after James Ward-Prowse gave Southampton an early lead on the day.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, on the other hand, struggled against a Toffees team who are going through a difficult phase at Goodison Park. The west Londoners were far from convincing in that fixture as they could only muster a 1-0 win against Frank Lampard’s side.

O’Hara firmly believes that this is the best time for Antonio Conte’s team to face off against Chelsea. In fact, the ex-midfielder even expects the Lilywhites to convincingly win against the Blues and ‘destroy’ them in the process.

Speaking to talkSPORT, O’Hara said: “I think now is the moment for Spurs to turn the tide and become the biggest club in London again.

“We’ve got the best stadium. One of the best managers. Best training facilities. Best striker in the world. Best left winger. So I think now is the time we make our mark.

“I know there’s a lot of Spurs fans out there who know this is a big moment for us and I think this is a good time to play Chelsea because they’re still a little bit on the hangover of last season.

“They weren’t great against Everton. I think we’re going to go there and absolutely destroy them.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Chelsea are going through a time tough indeed as they had to deal with the debacle surrounding Roman Abramovich that affected their transfer business (Football.London).

They also lost major players like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively (The Athletic). They are still pursuing targets like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wesley Fofana (talkSPORT) to solve the problems in their squad.

However, we seem to have already completed our transfer plans and are in a stable state right now. With uncertainty still being at Stamford Bridge, we can get one over Chelsea, but a hammering may be too far-fetched even with their current situation.
