Former Tottenham player predicts whether Antonio Conte will stay or leave

According to former Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas for FourFourTwo, Antonio Conte may be coming to the end of his ‘cycle’ at the club and will not stay beyond this summer.

Conte arrived at Tottenham in November 2021 and enjoyed a fantastic first season in charge, taking Spurs from mid-table to the top four within six months.

All signs pointed to a promising future under the Italian, but things haven’t quite worked out this year.

While Spurs currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League, the Lilywhites have struggled to find consistency across the campaign.

Frustrating performances on the pitch have led to some sections of the fanbase to doubt Conte’s management style.

This, twinned with the fact Conte has suffered several issues in his personal life, from illness to close friends passing away, has seen rumours surface that the 53-year-old may leave the club in the summer (Sky Sport Italia via Tutto Juve).

With his contract expiring in the summer, it remains to be seen whether Conte will stick around or not. But, in Jenas’ opinion, we may be seeing the beginning of the end for the Italian at Spurs.

He said: “The uncertainty comes, though: I’m not sure Antonio Conte will be there next year. You look at his career and the cycles are pretty short.

“He’s coming to the end of another one. I hope he stays if he’s refreshed, supported and backed. If he’s not, he should move on.”

Sadly, I just do not see Antonio Conte staying at Spurs past the end of the season.

Even without the issues at the club and with the ambition of the owners, I just think everything going on in Conte’s personal life will see him wanting to go back to Italy permanently.

I’d love him to stay, but I doubt it will happen.
