Former Wales manager gives verdict on Joe Rodon’s performance against England

Former Wales manager, Chris Coleman raved about Joe Rodon’s performance against England on Thursday amidst reports of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

There has been plenty of speculation about Tottenham’s interest in the Swansea City defender over the past week in particular (Times).

Football Insider reported on Friday that the Lilywhites were ready to table a £13 million offer for the 22-year-old after holding fresh talks with Swansea.

Some Spurs fans who may not have known much about the youngster before this month got an opportunity to witness him action on Thursday as Rodon started at the heart of the Wales defence.

It was a tough night for the Swansea man as the Three Lions brushed Ryan Giggs’ men aside 3-0 but Coleman insisted that he was impressed with what he saw from the defender.

He claimed that Rodon showed on Thursday that he could cope against top-quality attackers.

Speaking to ITV (8:47 pm, October 8, 2020), Coleman said: “I have been impressed with Joe Rodon at the back. He has had a lot of his mind, Joe, obviously with the transfer window.

“Is he going to Tottenham or is he not going to Tottenham? But I tell you what, he has done well in this first half, he won’t come up against many better players than he is up against at the moment.”
