Foyth and Sanchez speaking the same language… literally

Juan Foyth revealed he and Davinson Sanchez spoke Spanish throughout Wednesday’s victory over APOEL according to an article on the club website.

Our young South American pair teamed up rather successfully at centre-half for the first time as we rounded off our UEFA Champions League Group H campaign in style with a 3-0 win at Wembley.

The two summer signings are both making very good progress at learning English around their busy training schedules at Hotspur Way, however the article adds that with clear and constant communication needed between central defenders during games, Foyth said the pair opted to communicate in Spanish against Apoel.

“It’s really good to play next to Davinson because we speak Spanish and we can communicate more easily,” Foyth said.
“It’s just a bit easier for us at the moment. We are learning English but with Davinson, I speak Spanish on the pitch for now.

Foyth added: “Davinson is a very good guy, a good friend here at Spurs and I know he is a talented player, you can see all the games he’s played so far – he plays very well, he is so strong, very fast and, for me, he is a brilliant player.”
