Franck Ribery reveals how Spurs-linked Vlahovic has improved over past year

Franck Ribery has hailed former Fiorentina teammate Dusan Vlahovic as a ‘great player’ amidst speculation linking the striker with a move to Tottenham.

Vlahovic’s name has risen to prominence on the back of his impressive performances for La Viola last season, with the striker netting 21 goals in Serie A.

It was previously reported that while the 21-year-old was also attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus, Spurs were at the front of the queue for his signature.

Meanwhile, Football.London have claimed that Vlahovic could be the first player to arrive through the door at Tottenham this summer after the club’s new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo gave the green light to pursue the striker.

The centre-forward struck up a fine understanding with Ribery at Fiorentina last season and the Frenchman was all praise for Vlahovic while announcing his departure after two years at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Ribery told Calciomercato: “He’s like a little brother to me. He is a great player but he still has to understand many things.

“In the last year, a lot has changed, we have seen in the last seven months how he worked and how he played. He listens – and this is important.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Vlahovic’s talent is there for all to see, based on Ribery’s words, it sounds like the youngster also has a great attitude. While I would love us to snap up the Serbian as I think he is destined for superstardom, I cannot see us signing him unless we lose Kane. It would be difficult for Paratici to convince the 21-year-old to join Spurs if the England captain is still at the club.
