Frank Lampard confirms Chelsea injury blow ahead of visit of Tottenham

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that he will be definitely without the services of two first team players for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunchtime.

Christian Pulisic has not featured since New Year’s Day while Callum Hudson-Odoi was injured during the match against Leicester before the winter break.

“Callum is a no, Pulisic is a no,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official Fifth Stand app

Lampard watched his side lose 2-0 to Manchester United last night and saw midfielder N’Golo Kante having to hobble off early on in the encounter with what he believes is an abductor muscle in his leg.

The Blues boss considers Kante to be a significant doubt to be fit in time to face Tottenham, where a win for Jose Mourinho’s side could lift them into fourth place at the expense of their London rivals.

Lampard added: “N’Golo, after what happened tonight, is probably a no for Saturday.

“It’s an abductor injury and we will have to assess him but it doesn’t look good at first glance.”

Striker Tammy Abraham missed the match against United after being unable to fully take part in training during the winter break is “probably a maybe” for the weekend.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen had to be replaced after a clash with Anthony Martial towards the end of the first half left him with a broken nose.

Lampard told Chelsea TV: “I felt bad for Andreas. You can definitely give him a bye on the first one because I think he’s got a broken nose.”
