Frank Lampard reveals injury blow for Everton ahead of Spurs match

Frank Lampard has revealed that Yerry Mina is not expected to be fit for his side’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

After their disappointing showing in the North London derby two weeks ago, Spurs managed to get back to winning ways against Brighton last week, becoming the first side since March to get three points at the Amex Stadium.

They followed that up with an important win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday and will be looking to carry that momentum into Saturday’s clash.

Antonio Conte’s men were boosted by the return of Lucas Moura against Frankfurt, but Dejan Kulusevski is expected to miss out against the Toffees (Football London).

However, Everton are also missing some key players, with Anthony Gordon suspended for the clash after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Manchester United last week.

Nathan Patterson (ankle) and Ben Godfrey (fractured fibula) remain out of action but the Merseysiders were hoping to see Mina back for the game.

However, Lampard has now confirmed that the Colombian will not feature against Spurs as he suffered a setback in his recovery.

The Everton boss told The Athletic: “Yerry has had a little bit of a setback this week and so won’t be available.”

Despite missing key players, the Toffee’s defence has been quite resolute this season and it will not be easy for Spurs to break them down tomorrow.

However, given Tottenham’s home record, this is a game that Conte will view as a must-win if he wants his side to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the table.
