Frank Lampard’s response to Cundy’s claim that Spurs would love to be Chelsea

Chelsea continued their impressive start to the Premier League season with a 4-2 victory at Burnley.

The win at Turf Moor has seen Frank Lampard’s side now win four top flight games in a row and currently sit in fourth place in the table.

talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy, who played for both Spurs and Chelsea during his career is known to be an avid supporter of the Stamford Bridge outfit (Sunday Post).

Cundy claimed earlier this week that Tottenham are one side who would swap their current fortunes with Chelsea (talkSPORT).

After the victory against Burnley, Lampard was asked about Cundy’s claim and played down the claim by insisting that whilst he thanks the 49-year-old, he is only concentrating on his own team.

Tottenham have experienced a difficult start to the new season having only managed to win three of their opening nine matches in the league and will take on leaders Liverpool late this afternoon.

Lampard told the Daily Star: “I appreciate it from Jason, I appreciate nice headlines and I appreciate nice talk about the team.

“But I have to stay very closed to that myself because the moment you take in those statements and headlines is the moment everyone won’t want to be you, if you drop your standards.

“Everyone’s working hard, I’m working hard, the staff are working hard. We always want constant improvement, so we won’t sit and compare ourselves to someone else, but I thank him for the sentiment.”
