French coach claims player has done his homework on Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur club captain Hugo Lloris will come up against Harry Kane on Saturday as both players look to secure their place in the semi-final of the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate’s side have won all but one of their four games so far, while France have won all of theirs aside for when a heavily-changed side lost 1-0 to Tunisia in their final Group D match.

All of the big guns will be on display at the quarter-final showdown in Al Khor with one of the biggest match-ups expected to be Kane vs Lloris.

The pair know each other very well, having lined up alongside each other for a number of seasons at club level in north London.

France national team assistant manager Guy Stephan has claimed that Lloris is fully aware of Kane’s style of play.

Stephan told the Daily Mail: “They’ve been playing together for years, he knows how he shoots, his movements.

“All of their players are in the Premier League apart from Jude Bellingham. I hope that when they go back to Tottenham there will be one with more of a smile than the other.”

Lloris will be looking to lift the World Cup for a second time, with France having won the tournament in Russia four years ago.

It will be fascinating to watch the encounter between the two sides, especially if there is a penalty or the match goes to a shoot-out which would see the two Spurs men lock horns.

Kane will be fully aware that Lloris is aware of his penalty technique and will be looking to surprise his team-mate as England look to win the tournament for the first time in 1966.
