Frenchman names Spurs star as the most underrated teammate he has played with

Despite playing well over a hundred times for Tottenham over two different spells in North London, Younes Kaboul is not remembered fondly by some of the White Hart Lane faithful.

Perhaps that has to do with the way things ended for the Frenchman at the club as he was one of the infamous ‘bomb squad’, ousted by Mauricio Pochettino after his first season at Spurs.

Kaboul was a key figure in the squad during Harry Redknapp and Andre Villas-Boas’ time at Tottenham and was part of some excellent teams during his time in North London.

The centre-back played alongside the likes of Ledley King, Rafael Van der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane across his two spells in North London.

However, his answer when asked to name the most underrated player he played with may surprise a few Spurs fans.

In an interview with Pianeta Milan, the 34-year-old named former Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe as his most underrated teammate.

Kaboul was also asked to name the best player he has ever played with, which cannot have been an easy question as, apart from his time at Spurs, he was also part of a strong Portsmouth squad and won five-caps for a star-studded Les Blues side.

However, his answer for that question is unlikely to take many by surprise, with the Frenchman bestowing the honour upon former Spurs midfielder, Luka Modric.
