‘Fresh injuries’ – Conte provides team news update ahead of Chelsea, encouraging news on Dier

Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have been part of Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Chelsea press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Journalists are continuing to dial into the press conference via the Zoom web conferencing platform following the Covid-19 outbreak at the club’s training ground in early December which halted the brief return of those who were permitted back into the building to pose their questions to the Italian in person.

Tottenham are looking to avoid a fourth defeat of the season at the hands of Thomas Tuchel’s side, having lost both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final earlier this month along with a Premier League defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September.

Conte revealed that he is dealing with a couple of fresh injury concerns as a result of Wednesday evening’s win at Leicester City and will wait until tomorrow before making a decision.

There was good news on Eric Dier, with the defender having recovered from injury, but will once again have to make do without Heung-min Son until after the international break.

He told Football.London: “Today is Friday and for sure after the game against Leicester we are trying to manage a couple of situation, fresh injuries. We have tomorrow to make the right decision about a couple of our players.

Eric Dier had a good training session for us and is available. Sonny not yet. We have to wait. He’s coming along well but we have to wait until after the international break.”
