The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has revealed that all his contacts at Tottenham Hotspur have only good things to say about Ange Postecoglou and the way he works.

When Spurs made the decision to appoint Postecoglou, there were more than a few raised eyebrows as the Australian had not managed at the highest level before.

Many Tottenham fans were far from pleased with the appointment but in less than three months since arriving at the club, he has not only won over the entire fan base but also completely transformed the mood around the club.

The players are seemingly playing with freedom and enjoying their football again, which has translated into results, with the Lilywhites having picked up 10 points from their first four league games, sitting in second place in the Premier League table.

Postecoglou is bringing the good vibes to Tottenham

Mokbel has now revealed that the Tottenham players love working with Postecoglou, given his straight-spoken nature and the clarity of his communication.

The journalist said on The Mail’s Transfer Deadline livestream: “All of the chat that I’m getting out of Tottenham from my contacts there and my connections there has been nothing but positive. He is an amiable guy, he’s straight up and down and he tells it how it is, that’s all you want as a player.”

While one cannot overstate the impact Postecoglou has had at Tottenham, we should also be mindful of the fact that this is a honeymoon period for the Australian and we heard similar things during the start of Mourinho’s and Conte’s time at Spurs.

Having said that, both Mourinho and Conte emphasised discipline rather than expression, and it was always only a matter of time before the players became tired of their methods. In contrast, the players have now been given the freedom to express themselves and are evidently enjoying their football.
