Frozen out star asks club to train with first team after Jose Mourinho is sacked

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is said to be open to the prospect of returning to first team training with the club.

The Telegraph‘s Mike McGrath (13:13) has revealed that the left back has asked the club if he can link up with the senior squad following the departure of Jose Mourinho and his backroom staff earlier today.

The 30-year-old was not given a squad number by the Portuguese this season and has been training with the club’s Under-23 side.

Rose is in the final few months of his contract with the North Londoners, having been at the club since 2007.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United but a permanent move failed to materialise despite Magpies boss Steve Bruce admitting that he wanted to take him to St James’ (Chronicle Live).

Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies had been Mourinho’s two choices on the left side of his defence, with Rose looking now to build up his fitness ahead of becoming a free agent in the summer.
