‘Going to be questions’ – Kieran Trippier reacts to Conte’s outburst after Burnley defeat

Kieran Trippier has claimed that Antonio Conte is quite an emotional manager, just as his former Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.

Conte’s comments following Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Burnley understandably grabbed the headlines this week.

The Italian admitted his frustration at Spurs falling to their fourth defeat in five Premier League matches and insisted that things were not changing despite him trying his hardest (Football.London).

The 52-year-old also went on to question whether he was the right man for the job and hinted his position would have to be reevaluated by the Tottenham hierarchy.

Despite his controversial comments on Wednesday, reports indicate that Daniel Levy still believes the former Inter Milan boss is the man to help Spurs turn things around and the Spurs chairman will try to reassure Conte (The Sun).

However, Conte apologised for his outburst today, explaining that he simply hates to lose and often needs a day to calm down after a defeat (Football London).

Trippier compared the Tottenham head coach with Simeone, insisting that the Italian, like the Atletico Madrid boss, is not accustomed to losing matches.

When asked about Conte’s comments, the former Spurs right-back told BBC Radio 5 Live (23/02/22): “He’s that type of manager. Similar to Simeone, emotional, he’s a winner at every club he’s been at.

“He will be frustrated, disappointed after the win over Man City. There are going to be questions, of course.”

Spurs Web Opinion

An emotional outburst like the one we saw from Conte on Wednesday should be excused. Given all the negative headlines about him and Spurs over the last week, he must have handled the situation more maturely.

The majority of Spurs fans are seemingly not ready to blame Conte, no matter how he behaves. However, he is certainly getting on my nerve and I suspect that the Tottenham hierarchy might also be coming towards the end of their patience.
