‘Full show’ – Swedish media are in awe of Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall

Steven Bergvall continues to leave people speechless with his performances, with the Swedish media waxing lyrical about the on-loan Tottenham man after each of his showings.

Spurs fans are excited to see what Bergvall can do when he links up with the squad ahead of the start of the next season, with the midfielder evidently being seen as a generational talent by those who follow Swedish football.

According to reports, the expectation at Hotspur Way is for the 18-year-old to be handed a prominent first-team role next season despite his lack of experience (Football Insider).

The youngster served another reminder of his quality on Sunday, producing a sensational showing for Djurgardens in the 5-0 win over United Nordic in the Svenksa Cup clash.

The 18-year-old netted a brace, with his second goal being a thing of absolute beauty. Bergvall ran more than half the length of the pitch, gliding past players with ease before wrong-footing the goalkeeper and turning the ball into an empty net.

SvenskaFans wrote about the teenager after Djurgardens’ win: “Bergvall extended the lead for the Blue Stripes in the eleventh minute and was also relatively close to doubling his goal yield for the day already in the first half.

“At the beginning of the second half, he served [Deniz] Hummet a fantastically nice little poke past Nordic’s centre-back to make it 3-0.

“Moments later, he single-handedly drove the ball up from his own half to dribble away a number of opponents before he could roll the ball in behind the goalkeeper. Full show from Bergvall today!”

Spurs Web Opinion

Swedish football almost looks too easy for Bergvall but Spurs fans should be cautious about expecting the youngster to make an instant impact when he arrives at the club like Destiny Udogie has.

The 18-year-old has not tasted football at the highest level and will need time to settle into his new surroundings and get adjusted to the pace and intensity of the game in England.
