Conor Gallagher demonstrated on Monday night just why Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on him, netting a brace to help Chelsea overcome Crystal Palace 3-1.
Since the closure of the January transfer window, reports have continued to suggest that Gallagher remains on Tottenham’s radar.
A little over a week ago, Football Insider reported that the Lilywhites are planning on stepping up their efforts to sign the 23-year-old next summer. The outlet explained that Spurs were put off from pursuing him in January as Chelsea demanded a whopping £80m for the midfielder.
However, it was suggested that the North London side would be able to sign the Blues academy graduate for just £50m at the end of the season since he will have just a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
A couple of days ago, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge also told GiveMeSport that there is every chance of Tottenham reigniting their interest in the Chelsea star next summer, with Ange Postecoglou said to be a big fan of the player.

Conor Gallagher nets a brace amid Tottenham links
Gallagher’s impressive display at Selhurst Park on Monday showed just why Postecoglou remains a fan, with the midfielder finding the back of the net twice in the second half to ensure that the West London club came away with all three points.
Mauricio Pochettino, who has continued to back the England international since the start of the season, gave a glowing review of his showing against the Eagles.
The Chelsea boss said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Gallagher told me he wants to stay at Chelsea. Other than that, it’s for him and the club to discuss. We like him. I’m so happy for him and so happy for the team because it’s a victory we needed. Then about his contract, it’s up to Conor and the club.”

These kinds of performances from Gallagher could potentially convince Chelsea to hand the midfielder a new contract, thus ending Tottenham’s chances of landing him.
Spurs’ best hope of signing the 23-year-old perhaps lies in Pochettino losing his job as the Argentine evidently rates the midfielder quite highly.
