The wing-back start off fairly well, offering a different kind of cross to the out-of-form Trippier. His positioning and poor clearance awarded Burnley the space to attack down his flank, resulting in the second goal.

Tottenham’s title bid suffered a major blow despite a goal from Harry Kane as Burnley condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor.

Not even Kane’s goalscoring return after six weeks out with an ankle injury could inspire Spurs to a victory which would have moved them to within two points of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top.

It was a disappointing display by Mauricio Pochettino’s side with even the most optimistic of Spurs fans now accepting that our title hopes are a thing of the past.
