Gareth Bale believes Spurs have made an amazing statement to win trophies

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has praised Spurs’ decision to appoint Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager was appointed as new Tottenham head coach just over two weeks ago and he has made a fine start to his career in North London, guiding the team to three wins in his first three games in charge.

Those wins have helped the club secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League and cut down the gap between themselves and fourth spot in the Premier League to just six points.

Bale, who joined Real Madrid just as Mourinho left Los Blancos to return to Chelsea, claimed that the 56-year-old is the right fit for Tottenham at the moment given their quest to win silverware.

Speaking to BT Sport, the Welsh superstar said, “Having [Jose] Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he’s a serial winner.

“Tottenham want to win trophies and I don’t think there’s a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies.”

Bleacher Report claimed a week ago that Daniel Levy has already discussed the prospect of bringing Bale back to Tottenham with Mourinho.

It certainly sounds like Bale is impressed with the club’s ambition. His words bode well for Tottenham’s prospects of signing him. However, given the wages he is on currently at Madrid, a move to North London will only be possible if the former Tottenham star takes a massive wage cut.
