Gareth Southgate announces England squad – Dele Alli misses out despite improved form

Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli has seen improvements in his game of late after a real drop of form over the past year due to various injuries.

The Spurs midfielder played well again last night against Red Star Belgrade where he picked up an assist, following his goal at the weekend against Everton at Goodison.

Dele also scored a late goal against Watford to rescue a home point last month, all of which came after he was dropped from Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

However, despite this slow return to form, Dele has missed out yet again on another England call-up, with Harry Kane, Harry Winks, and Danny Rose all making the cut.

This comes after Winks was benched against Everton and left out of the squad entirely against Red Star Belgrade.

Meanwhile, Troy Parrott was called up to the Republic of Ireland squad, Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko were called up to France, and Giovani Lo Celso and Juan Foyth made the Argentina squad.
