Gareth Southgate implies why Mourinho’s arrival at Spurs is good news for England

Gareth Southgate has implied that the managerial change at Tottenham might be good news for England as it could help Spurs’ England stars find their form again.

Next summer will be a big one for English football as the Three Lions go into the Euros as one of the favourites to win the competition.

Southgate’s squad got the country excited about the national team once again when they made into the semifinals of the World Cup in Russia and will be hoping that they can once again get the country rallying behind them next summer.

Harry Kane, Harry Winks and Danny Rose are all regulars in the squad while Eric Dier and Dele Alli have also been involved in the past but found themselves being overlooked in the last few squads owing to lack of playing time for Tottenham.

However, the pair have been starting games for Spurs since Mourinho’s arrival and are finding some form.

Speaking about the Tottenham contingent, Southgate told Sky Sports, “At the moment they are fighting to get into Tottenham’s team and pleasing their manager there.

“So if the consequence of that is that they are in form for us then for sure (getting in the Euro 2020 squad) will be in the players’ minds, but at this stage of the season they are thinking about their clubs.”

While I believe both Harry Kane and Harry Winks are shoo-ins for the England squad for the Euros, I am also confident that Dele Alli and Eric Dier will win their place back. While there are not a lot of international matches left between now and the Euros, Southgate will not be able to ignore the pair if they start consistently for Spurs and maintain a high level of performance.
