Garth Crooks has named Tottenham forward Heung-min Son in his Premier League Team of the Season.
Son enjoyed a productive campaign for Spurs with his 23 goals in the top flight earning him the Golden Boot alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (Premier League).
His displays powered the club into sealing Champions League football for next season as they secured fourth place in the table with a 5-0 win at Norwich on the final day.
Son’s most fruitful campaign to date saw him consistently produce going forward in the early season struggles of Harry Kane, before the pair resumed their deadly partnership in the latter stages.
And the South Korean’s efforts were enough for him to be named in Crooks’ best 11 of the campaign, with the former Tottenham striker claiming he deserves the recognition for leading the line.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “The partnership between Harry Kane and Son Heung-min is unmistakably important. However, on this occasion, I am not going to allow the spectre of Kane to overshadow the contribution Son has made to Spurs this season.
“It was the South Korea international who held the fort while Kane was sulking over his failed transfer to Manchester City. Son was outstanding throughout and his performances for that spell alone deserve recognition.

“That is why I am delighted he shares the Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah. It’s a fitting tribute to mark his goalscoring efforts this season. Champions League football next season won’t hurt either.”

Son deserves all the plaudits after the season he put together but it feels like he has still flown under the radar despite that.
He took control when Kane struggled to hit form earlier on in the season and kept scoring even when his own performances weren’t necessarily up to his standards.
