Gary Lineker claims one man was the ‘difference’ between Spurs and Leeds

Gary Lineker has claimed that Dejan Kulusevski was the main architect of Tottenham’s dramatic win over Leeds United.

Antonio Conte’s men were coming into the game on Saturday on the back of two straight losses against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, and desperately needing a win to end the first part of the campaign on a high.

For large portions of the game, it looked like the Lilywhites might fall to their third straight Premier League defeat at home, with Leeds taking the lead on three separate occasions.

However, Spurs battled back time and again, with Rodrigo Bentancur’s late quickfire brace seeing the home side emerge 4-3 winners in dramatic fashion.

Kulusevski made his first start for Tottenham since September and the winger proved a handful for the Leeds defence all game. He laid Bentancur’s winner on the plate for the midfielder after beating his man in the box and squaring it to the Uruguayan to tap home.

Here’s what Lineker tweeted about the result and Kulusevski’s impact:

Many pundits and fans have given some complex diagnoses for Tottenham’s downturn in form over the last month and a half. Saturday’s evidence, the reason was quite straightforward – the absence of Kulusevski. The Swede, in many ways, makes Conte’s 3-4-3 system tick with his ability to progress the ball which was clear to see for Bentancur’s winner.
