Gary Lineker comments on Tottenham’s loss to West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur suffered somewhat of a surprise first defeat at their brand new home this afternoon to London rivals West Ham United.

The Hammers will certainly have savoured the bragging rights of becoming the first team to take points from Spurs at the 62,062 capacity seater stadium.

The loss once again puts Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League into some doubt and depending on the results of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United may have to win their two remaining matches against Bournemouth (away) and Everton (home).

After the final whistle, Gary Lineker posted a message to his Twitter account with a tongue-in-cheek response to the defeat in N17 by suggesting that the fight for Europa League qualification goes on.

Lineker was of course referencing the fact that Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have all suffered surprise results in recent matches with none of the four sides able to tighten their grip on the two remaining Champions League places behind Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League table.
