Gary Lineker takes to Twitter to blast awful decision in Norwich v Spurs match

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker took to Twitter during yesterday’s match against Norwich City.

After taking the lead on 18 minutes through Mario Vrancic, the Canaries thought that they had doubled their lead when Teemu Pukki was adjudged offside by the narrowest of margins.

After being awarded the goal, VAR ruled that Pukki’s arm was millimetres ahead of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.

The call proved to be crucial for Jose Mourinho’s side who would have found themselves 2-0 down ahead of the half time interval.

Spurs came from behind twice in the match to level through a Christian Eriksen free-kick and a late Harry Kane penalty with the North London side once again passing up the opportunity to move into fourth place in the Premier League table.

Opinion

The VAR decision was correct to deny Norwich a second. Spurs have found themselves in a similar position on more than one occasion this season with Heung-mn Son at Leicester and Harry Kane on Boxing Day against Brighton.
