Gary Lineker took to Twitter yesterday to make a joke following Tottenham Hotspur’s appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach.
The former Spurs striker who is known for his quick-witted Tweets and wasted no time in making a reference to Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by chairman Daniel Levy back in April with the club in seventh place in the Premier League table.
Mourinho found himself back in employment in a matter of days having secured a return to Italy to take over as head coach of AS Roma.
It wasn’t the first time in which Lineker had commented on Tottenham’s managerial search, having assumed late last month that Nuno had rejected the opportunity to take over in North London and instead threw his support behind club legend Jurgen Klinsmann.

Now that Nuno has been appointed, Spurs fans will now have to accept the decision and give the 47-year-old all the support he needs while also hoping that he receives the same from Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici in the transfer market.
