Gary Lineker’s two-word reaction to Tottenham’s penalty defeat

Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the Carabao Cup after losing a penalty shootout to London rivals Chelsea.

An injury-hit Spurs came into the game with a 1-0 lead from the first leg courtesy of Kane’s penalty

Chelsea were all over Spurs in the first half and went 2-0 up through strikes from Ngolo Kante and Eden Hazard. However, Mauricio Pochettino changed his system to three at the back following the interval and saw immediate results as Tottenham leveled the tie on aggregate through a Fernando Llorente header early in the second half.

Spurs defended valiantly for the rest of the game, with the match ending as a 2-2 draw after both legs, requiring the need for a penalty shootout.

While Eriksen and Lamela converted the first two penalties, Eric Dier hit his spot-kick high over the bar while Lucas Moura’s saw his effort saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

David Luiz stepped up to smash home Chelsea’s fourth penalty, putting the Blues in the Carabao Cup final where they will take on Manchester City.

Tottenham fans were understandably disappointed at the result and by the looks of it, so was former Spurs striker Gary Lineker.

Linekar took to Twitter to tweet his two-word reaction to the result.
