Gary Neville claims Arsenal cannot be considered in the same bracket as Spurs

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed that only one club in North London can still be considered as a Premier League top six club.

Neville believes that Arsenal are no longer worthy of the title, given their form in recent years.

The Sky Sports pundit named Tottenham in his half-dozen selection along with Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester City.

Tottenham have finished above their bitter rivals in the Premier League consecutively over the past five seasons, with Arsenal missing out on European football on the final day of the previous campaign following Spurs’ late win at Leicester City.

Neville said on LADbible TV: “Liverpool are in there. United are in there. City are in there. Chelsea are in there. Tottenham and Leicester in the last few years, I would say.

“Arsenal fans will probably now quote some stats now. They think I hate them anyway. They drain me. Start winning, and I will start praising you again.”

Tottenham’s Premier League form over the past five years certainly warrants them a place in the top six ahead of Arsenal, however, the stark reality is that the Lilywhites have failed to win any silverware during this time.

Nuno Espirito Santo will have his work cut out on breaking back into the top four this season based on Saturday’s performance at Crystal Palace, however, the UEFA Conference League has to be a realistic target.
