Gary Neville labels one Spurs man as the ‘bright spark’ against Arsenal

Gary Neville labelled Bryan Gil as a ‘bright spark’ after the winger’s 20-minute cameo in Tottenham’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.

Gil has shown plenty of promise following his move from Sevilla in the summer and the winger was one of Tottenham’s best players in the Carabao Cup win over Wolves on Thursday.

However, Lucas Moura’s return to fitness meant the Spaniard missed out on the eleven for Sunday’s North London derby, with Nuno Espirito Santo starting the Brazilian alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min upfront.

It proved to be a day to forget for the Lilywhites, who started sluggishly and found themselves three goals down just past the hour mark.

Gil replaced Tanguy Ndombele with 20 minutes left on the clock and the youngster certainly looked lively and was involved in the build-up to Son Heung-min’s goal.

Some Spurs fans on social media were impressed with the 20-year-old’s cameo and so was Neville.

The former Manchester United man said:  Sky Sports Premier League – 6:19 pm, September 26, 2021: “Gil’s been a bright spark since he has come on for Spurs.”

I can understand why Nuno decided to bring Lucas back into the starting eleven but I was surprised he waited as long as he did to bring Gil on for either Alli or Ndombele. Both Gil and Skipp should be among the first names on Nuno’s timesheets going forward.
