‘Generational’ – Some Spurs fans react to 20-year-old’s international display

Some Spurs fans on social media were left impressed by Bryan Gil’s cameo for Spain against Italy yesterday evening.

Gil has had a promising start to his time at Tottenham following his switch from Sevilla, impressing in the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup.

The 20-year-old has also had a few decent appearances off the bench in the Premier League but is yet to start a league game for the North London club.

The winger was called up to the Spain squad by Luis Enrique this week after an injury suffered by Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.

The Tottenham man came on for Pablo Sarabia in the 75th minute on Thursday and looked extremely threatening in the closing stages of the game, helping the Spaniards seal a 2-1 win over the European Champions.

On the back of his display against the Italians, some Spurs fans are convinced that Gil is a potential superstar in the making and called on Nuno Espirito Santo to start him in every game.

While Gil’s talent is not in question, he is still quite raw and needs to find his best position. I suspect that he will find himself playing more centrally in a David Silva type role in the future, which is perhaps why Spurs have asked him to bulk up.
