German club eye 20-year-old Spurs player who is set to be out of contract

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s brightest academy talents is said to be attracting interest from Germany.

The Telegraph claim that 20-year-old Elliot Thorpe is now wanted by outfit Hoffenheim.

The Bundesliga outfit currently have Ryan Sessegnon within their ranks following his season-long loan switch last summer and are now said to be setting their sights on Thorpe.

Thorpe, a versatile midfielder has featured in 18 games in Premier League 2 this season, scoring two goals, which came in the 5-2 win over Liverpool on 23 April.

Hoffenheim are said to have watched Thorpe in action for Tottenham along with his appearances Wales at Under-19 level.

Thorpe, who joined Tottenham from Cambridge United in 2013 has yet to make his first-team debut for the North Londoners despite Jose Mourinho handing the opportunity to a number of academy starlets including Dane Scarlett, Nile John, Alfie Devine and Marcel Lavinier.

Tottenham have lost a number of highly-rated players in recent years including Keanan Bennetts, Noni Madueke, Reo Griffiths and Luis Binks.

Thorpe is out of contract at the end of next month and has not agreed an extension (Football Insider).
