Fenerbahce have agreed to sign former Germany international Max Kruse from Werder Bremen after the striker decided against extending his contract at Weser Stadium.
The 31-year-old had been linked with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur as a possible understudy to Harry Kane with Fernando Llorente’s future at the club looking increasingly uncertain considering his contract expires this weekend (Sky Germany).
Spurs were linked with a £9million move for the forward back in 2015, but he reportedly rejected them to instead sign for Wolfsburg (Express).
Daniel Levy does not have a track record of signing players over the age of 30 due to their limited resale value.
He scored 32 goals in 84 Bundesliga appearances over the past three seasons.
His ability to lead the line and bring those around him into play would have made him a sensible replacement for Llorente, but it looks as if Spurs will have to focus their attention elsewhere.
The deal was announced on Fenerbahce’s Twitter account yesterday.

Opinion
Any striker who is linked with Spurs will understand that they are coming to the club as the second choice and will have limited game time when you have someone of Harry Kane’s quality ahead of them.
