Bayern Munich cannot afford Tottenham star – Transfer rumours are false

One Tottenham star has been linked with a surprise move to Bayern Munich in recent weeks, but a well-placed journalist has now shut the door on that talk, making it clear there’s no truth to the rumour.

Few Tottenham fans would argue about club captain Heung-min Son’s legendary status at Hotspur Way.

The forward has undoubtedly been one of the standout performers for the Lilywhites over the last decade, with only Harry Kane outscoring him during that period.

However, this season, his output has dropped off considerably—Son has managed just eleven goals and twelve assists in over 40 appearances across all competitions.

Journalist shuts down Heung-min Son to Bayern Munich rumours

Naturally, that dip in form has sparked speculation that Son could be on the move this summer.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, the Korean international could be available at a reduced fee, and links with Bayern Munich—where his old mate Harry Kane is now leading the line—have started to emerge.

The Bavarians are set for some attacking upheaval, with Thomas Muller expected to depart and uncertainty surrounding the futures of Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry.

But according to journalist Christian Falk, there’s absolutely nothing going on with Son. He dismissed the rumour out of hand, saying on the Bayern Insider Podcast: “That’s not true. And I’d like to know if we’ve ever given Fichajes a true. So, this rumour is completely made up again. FC Bayern can’t afford it, FC Bayern doesn’t want to afford him.”

Heung-min Son still misses Harry Kane at Tottenham

While Falk has ruled out a Bayern switch, Son himself has made no secret of how much he still misses Kane.

Speaking recently, he revealed he’d love to share the pitch with his former strike partner again—at least once more—even if it’s just a charity match.

“Yeah, I still speak to him. Obviously, I’m missing more than any time, I think. But for me, he’s the best striker,” he said.

He added that it’s not just about Kane’s goalscoring, but the way he plays the game and makes those around him better: “Like involving the game, like inviting the winger playing with him—I think he makes the winger look better, you know. So I mean he’s a fantastic player. One day, even in a charity game, I hope we can play one game together.”
